The way of luxury suites is getting more luxurious. Last week I told you about the new signature suites at New York’s The Plaza Hotel, and this week comes the debut of another Manhattan hotel suite: Mandarin Oriental, New York’s Suite 5000.
The Mandarin Oriental, New York’s newest signature suite, Suite 5000 spans 3,300-square-feet on the hotel’s 50th floor. The theme of the suite is that there isn’t just one theme. The hotel will work with various partners in the city’s finest art, fashion and design industries to customize each stay from start to finish.
“Our aim is to showcase the essence and distinctiveness of New York City within Suite 5000, and offer guests unparalleled access to new and enriching cultural experiences,” said Susanne Hatje, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, New York. “Combined with Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service and style we believe this will provide our guests with a memorable, one of a kind stay,” she added.
The bricks-and-mortar of the suite is designed by internationally renowned architecture and interior design firm BBG-BBGM. The color palette is set in soft dove gray and ivory colors and accented with charcoal and black, providing an easy canvas for which to design based on each guest’s preferences. The hotel also partnered with Whitewall magazine to curate an exclusive year-long art exhibition of New York City-inspired works by established and emerging contemporary artists including Kenny Scharf, Shelter Serra, Ray Geary and Forrest Myers.
As you would expect, the suite’s floor-to-ceiling windows showcase the Manhattan skyline, Central Park and the Hudson River. Inside Suite 5000 guests will find a collection of films featuring New York City, perfect for viewing on a 75-inch flat panel television in the suite’s state-of-the-art media center. The living room has a diverse record collection that has been curated by New York City’s own Academy Records, and the in-suite iPad boasts an exclusive “Soundtrack of New York.”
Additional suite features include a dining room that seats 10, accented by a Swarovski crystal wall installation, a full-sized kitchen with separate entry, a dedicated fitness area with equipment customized for individual guests and a master bathroom complete with a large soaking tub and an oversized steam shower with views of the Hudson River and personalized bath amenities.
All this, and more based on your preferences, can be yours for a starting price of $28,000.
